BHTF recently conducted a medical outreach where over 2,000 people were reached. The outreach took place on 12th to 13th March 2018 in of Kaihura, Kyongera and Mutoma, in Kyenjojo Western Uganda. The outreach was sponsored by 410 Bridge in partnership with Cypress church
The medical camp was aimed at providing free medical services to every individual most especially the vulnerable people and creating awareness in the community and Kyenjojo District at large about the services offered by Hope Again Medical Centre.
The medical Camp involved three outreaches which were conducted in three days, with one being static at Hope Again Medical Centre in Butiiti Sub County and the rest at Kyongera in Kyarusozi Sub County and Hakatoma ward in Kyenjojo Town Council.
The medical camp involved Hope Again medical centre staffs that included: 2 Clinicians, 4 Nurses, 2 Midwives, 2 Pharmacists (Nursing Assistants), 1 Lab Technician, 1 Counselor, and 5 other workers.
It also involved a team of 12 representatives from 410 Bridge who included one Doctor, 3 Nurses and the rest being none medical workers.
The main objective for the outreach were to provide free medical services for about one thousand five hundred community people and to provide health care services to the vulnerable.
The most common diseases treated included: Peptic ulcer disease (PUD), Urinary tract infections (UTIs), Respiratory tract infections (RTIs), Hypertension (HTN), Dental diseases, Ophthalmic diseases, Fungal infections, Neuropathies, Allergies, Bacterial infections, Arthritis, Diabetes mellitus (DM), Malaria, Enteric Fevers, among others
It was also noted by the medical teams that malaria cases were very few which indicates that malaria has greatly reduced in Western Uganda. The most crucial areas that need much emphasis are; ophthalmic conditions, dental conditions, and sensitizing the community about HIV/AIDS.
In this exercise, It saved the lives of many people, vulnerable people got an opportunity to free medical health care services, and most importantly the community became aware of the health services offered by Hope Again Medical Centre.
