Caroline is 5 years of age from the village of Muhondo in Kyenjojo District, her father Swizen is a local carpenter. Caroline’s colon does not function well to a point that it does not pass stool since birth. In order to enable Caroline to pass stool, her mother has to mix soap and water which she pushes through her anus with a straw, this mixture of soap and water comes out with stool. It’s a painful method but her mother has no option and she does this once a week. Caroline’s belly is swollen due to the inability to pass out all the wastes from her stomach.
This problem can be corrected medically through surgery to correct the alignment of her colon so that it can function well. The surgery will conducted at Cure Hospital far Eastern Uganda.
